SINGAPORE – The Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) will be holding a seminar titled ‘Ensuring Success of Your New F&B Business’ for new and aspiring entrepreneurs in the F&B industry at the end of this month.

Supported by SPRING Singapore, the initiative focuses on the fundamentals of operating an F&B business and aims to share real-life perspectives from industry professionals to further equip aspiring and new entrants.

Mr Andrew Tjioe, President of RAS, said, “This is the first time we are organising a class of this nature. We hope to educate and share with young aspiring entrepreneurs on the vital points of starting an F&B business to meet the rapidly changing demands of the industry, to better prepare and assist them in ensuring their business success. This will also encourage individuals to deepen their knowledge and broaden their skill-sets.”

The one-day interactive seminar will cover essential topics on pricing, recruitment, operations and marketing. It also includes sharing of industry statistics, regulations and licensing, as well as the various government assistance schemes available to build business capabilities and improve productivity for growth. Industry practitioners such as Swenson’s and Baguette – The Viet Inspired Deli will also be invited to share their experiences on the different aspects of F&B operations.

Mr Steven Tan from iFi Academy will be conducting the seminar. Mr Tan is the co-founder a consultancy company aiding other entrepreneurs and businesses. He acquired the Wang Café Group with a partner in March 2008 and grew the company to 30 outlets in a span of two years to become the leader in the coffee and toast business in Singapore. He is currently a fully qualified WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA) trainer and currently sits on the iFi Academy Academic Board leading its training division.
